Personal Boundaries and Their Importance:

Today we talk about, 'boundaries'.

What are boundaries?

Why do we set them?

How do we set them?

Boundaries are an indication of a limit. Boundaries help you to stay away from unhealthy and toxic relationships. And that is why it is very important to set boundaries around yourself, be it a friendship or any kind of relationship.

You need to know what makes you uncomfortable, what sets you off about the other person.

How to stop the other person from transgressing your limits?

Take time for yourself and find out what limits there are for you that you don't want the other person to cross. Don't disregard your values, needs and yourself. Learn to say NO. Be firm about it. Saying no doesn't make you pathetic or selfish. Not everyone has the courage to decline the other person right away but if you want peace with yourself, then you need to learn the correct way to do things. Being able to say no and accepting when someone else says it is equally important.

Boundaries are safe places we create for ourselves. People around us who 'test our patience' might not like an idea of us having boundaries but we need to step up for ourselves. Saying no is very difficult (saying from personal perspective since I sometimes say yes like a pushover) but taking small steps helps you see the bigger picture.

Just know this, that Boundaries don't define right or wrong, but rather the limits you've placed for yourself, the ones you don't want others to break through. So guard your boundaries well and don't let anyone break them because they're not to limit your joy, but to protect you!

This might not exactly be helpful, I'm just putting it out there generally but we define our worth and we get to choose who stays in our life and who doesn't. And even when we don't have the choice most times, we can decide for ourselves who gets a say in our life and who doesn't.
